Alumni Happy Hour-El Paso, TX Feb 18, 2010

Wow, "Oh, what a Night!"

Local Andress alumni converged at Jaxon's - Airport Blvd for drinks, nourishment, fellowship and laughter.  Joe Ramirez'84 was in town from Denmark, the Roberts'77 twins (Lori and Laura) kept us on the edge of our seats with their funny antics.  Skip Zweeres'79 was the one that tipped us over the edge...just ask him about his experiences at Andress and post Andress...if he had shown up earlier, many of us would have spewed our beer in the air, or thru our schnozzes!

Kevin Clark'79 and Harry Asmussen'78 were there to plug the 50th anniversary (everyone received an alumni pin), and I believe everyone also said they would be registering quickly.  Krystal Hoganson'03, the youngest alumni attended with her meager 5 hours of daily sleep; Eric Green'01 (Lori's son) was the second youngest in the crowd.  It looks like the classes of 1991 took the crowd by largest attendance with Stacey Adams, Kathia West and Vicky Floyd.  Stacey has her 8th annual Cajun Festival party this weekend...bound to be a blast!

Bettina Brown-Sweet (Ms. Giggles and smiles) from 79 was there with her Irvin Rocket friend Priscilla (boo!!!!)...just kidding.  She (Priscilla) at least had courage to attend! Bettina is also helping us put together hotel packages for the 50th Celebration (thank YOU Bettina).  We'll hear from her soon as to her findings.

Terry Hammons'74 and his wife'74 (she's a graduate, too, and I do not have her name committed to memory...ugh)...Terry was the photographer of the event.  It looks like Harry's batteries were used up!  Terry...thanks for saving our bacon!

Lucy Neiman (I believe 73 or 74), chose the teaching profession, and actually taught at Andress for several years!  Teachers, do and made a difference!  Thanks Lucy!!  Melanie T squared (Thomas-Thomas)'74 also put together the event...thanks for helping out!  Donna Pettit (75?) was there in great form and humor as well.

Overall a great time had by all...as normal, about 60 percent of these events are attended by those who RSVP....for those that could not make it, perhaps next time....you missed a great time of fellowship!

Next one will be in April...keep your eyes open for the date!

Also, we learned that the IRS agent killed in yesterday's plane crash into the Austin IRS' office was Vernon Hunter, the father of Ken Hunter, class of 1984....our many prayers to the Hunter family for their tragic loss.

For now...soar high!
